TCP Lab Test Results

Temperature Controlled Packaging engineers regularly conduct tests on goods packed in our packaging in our ISTA Certificated Laboratory to provide packaging temperature and insulation validation, shock and vibration testing. This is to ensure our standards are kept and all products meet our exacting specifications.

Test Results

Our first test was aimed to determine the level of performance for our TCP Foam Shippers in the chilled foods packaging. We completed an ISTA accredited 48 hour test for the frozen and chilled shippers.

The material that formed the shipper was a TempGuard™ moulded cushion produced from TempGuard™ moulding foam.

The dimensions of the shipper were externally 432mm x 292mm x 232mm / internally 352mm x 212mm x 150mm.

The cooling agents used were 2 x frozen ice wrap sheets and bubble wrap phase change material.

Probes were inserted into the top middle and bottom of the shipper.

Test results showed that the chilled products performed well within guidelines starting at 2.6C and ending between 4.2C and 4.9C after the 48hour test. Please click here to see the graph.

Case Studies

Case Study 1: The English Cheesecake Company

After the success of the TempGuard™ products in the USA being utilised by the Jubilation Cheesecake Company of Columbus, Mississippi. Temperature Controlled Packaging approached The English Cheesecake Company in London and offered to redesign their current packaging format.
The objectives were to produce a design that would perform better than their current EPS based format allowing them to confidently ship over a 48hour period rather that their existing 24hours and cut down on the amount of dry ice involved. After extensive ISTA lab testing and customer technical input this was achieved by designing a TempGuard™ shipper that was bespoke and exactly fitted their products dimensions cutting down on unwanted air space and reducing their overall pack size.
Alan Laurier commented this was the type of product which would enable them to ship to Ireland and possibly Europe in the future.

Case Study 2: Blackface Meat Company, Dumfries

When Kathryn Logan of the Black Face Meat Company approached Temperature Controlled Packaging ( TCPKG. for short) in 2009 they were faced with a problem and an opportunity. They wanted to be able to ship their internet meat and game orders both frozen and chilled together in the same shipper and be able to guarantee they would arrive in perfect condition after a maximum of 48hours.
Their current packaging format meant they were unable to do this .After extensive laboratory and field testing TCPKG came up with a solution using a TempGuard™ shipper and TempGuard™ phase change material that would guarantee this performance.
Looking forward Kathryn commented after placing her initial order "we feel that the TempGuard™products will open up new delivery opportunities for us in the UK and abroad in the future".
